IL VISCONTE SHANE GOUGH E’ TORNATO ALLA CASA DEL PADRE

Si è spento serenamente il 14 aprile 2023, all’età di 81 anni, dopo una breve malattia, il Visconte Shane Gough.

Il visconte Shane Gough, V visconte Gough, era nato vicino a Inverness, in Scozia, dove ha trascorso i primi anni di vita.

Dopo la Abberley Hall School frequentò il Winchester College, trascorrendo un anno sabbatico in giro per il mondo prima di entrare a Sandhurst e ottenere un incarico nelle Guardie irlandesi. Sei anni dopo si dedicò all’attività di agente di cambio e si occupò della sua tenuta scozzese.

Il Visconte Gough è entrato a far parte dell’Ordine di San Lazzaro nel 1994 ed è stato promosso al grado di Cavaliere Commendatore nel 1997. 

All’inizio del 2000 ha assunto il ruolo di Priore del Gran Baliato di Scozia e ha lavorato silenziosamente e diligentemente per il Gran Baliato a livello nazionale e internazionale, facendo parte del Gran Consiglio Magistrale dal 2009 al 2014.

Fu patrono delle chiese di St Luke e St Thomas (insieme al vescovo di Southwark) della Chiesa anglicana.

Non avendo avuto figli né cugini maschi idonei a succedere ai suoi titoli, questi si estinguono con la sua morte.

VISCOUNT SHANE GOUGH HAS HAS PASSED AWAY

The sad news reached us last week of the death of Viscount Gough, who died peacefully on 14 April 2023, at the age of 81, after a short illness.

Shane, 5th Viscount Gough, was born near Inverness and spent his early years there. After Abberley Hall School he went on to Winchester College, spending a gap year travelling around the world prior to Sandhurst and a commission in the Irish Guards. Six years later he went into stockbroking and was involved with his Scottish estate.

Viscount Gough joined the Order of St Lazarus in 1994 and was promoted to the rank of Knight Commander in 1997.  He took on the role of Prior in the Grand Bailiwick of Scotland in early 2000 and worked quietly and diligently for the Grand Bailiwick at a National and International level, serving on the Grand Magisterial Council from 2009 until 2014.

He was Patron of St Luke’s and St Thomas Churches (along with the Bishop of Southwark) of the Anglican Church.

As he had no issue, nor any male cousins eligible to succeed to his titles, they became extinct upon his death.
